They don't ever answer their phones. Called every few minutes for 20 minutes straight. Not a single line picked up. The grocery pick up option didn't even have a dial tone just straight to voicemail. ** edit to add I called periodically from 10am-12 noon on a Saturday**
With the other reviews saying they got turned away I am so glad I didn't drive down there. I struggle for food right now, I cant afford to waste gas.

The Sumner food bank has been such a blessing to our ministry. We have been blessed to pick up every other week to serve our community.Good wholesome nourishing food. The whole team there have been so kind and generous. They always have a smile on their face and ask how they can help. They are an amazing hard working team. Thanks again for all you do to bless your community.

I understand you feel the need to have the strict appointments for the food bank. However, my experience with this place has been less than ideal since we've had to switch. We used to faithfully to Thursday evenings when we are in the area. The gentlemen working there are friendly, and helpful and not hovering and harping on customers unless true action is needed.
Now, I've had to switch my days, come when it is inconvenient making a special trip here, and making sure I can pick my child up in time to make it to this window is challenging. I've come a few times, shy of 2-3 min after my appt window. Such as today.. I arrived 2 min after my appt window starts, and the woman constantly told me I only have 10 minutes and now only 5 to shop the entire place. Okay, I can try to get that done, but I also have a slower processing system when it comes to shopping which is embarrassing as it is, but as I'm shopping she again rushes me and says I only have 5 minutes. I did not appreciate the constant harping on time, when I was simply going as fast as I could, trying to process what I needed and I did not. I wasn't going to dilly-dally! Not only this gal, but another woman came over to my bag and pulled out an extra snack I accidently put in my bag, it was a mistake, but the way she addressed me, came over to my bags and pulled out the two snacks, held them up and told me to pick between the two... How embarrassing! What am I, a child?! I don't come there to be greedy and take like that. It was an accident, but surely it didn't need to be a big deal.
I've never been treated like this by the men on the Thursday crew. They are very kind and enjoyable to be around and left me alone. The women who I've come in contact with on the early shifts, tend to be impatient and tolerant of the people coming in. Be early or on time or they make a deal of it.
The volunteers behind the scenes, are lovely and usually have a much more kind, loving, and patient demeanor than the women running it. More compassionate and empathetic almost.
I've helped run a Sumner food distribution, and our ministry was amazing, and I understand how to run things like this. We had a beautiful spread of groceries and allowed folks to shop and made connections and loved on them. The only issues we had was with the ones who willfully came in to take more than they knew they should/abuse the system. Otherwise, we blessed many men and women who showed up on those days (no appointment necessary!!! Even if it meant a line!), and people's bins were full by the end of the time. Often there was plenty of food for double trips. I've worked for food banks where we don't time and rush people, because you have a wide variety of skills, old and young, folks who have to wrangle children, or folks who speak different languages, or an elderly lady who just needs an extra minute.
I felt stressed out and angry after my time this morning. What has generally been a pleasant experience with this food bank, has not been when I've had to come in the mornings.
I appreciate the services you provide. I did not appreciate my experience this morning. We are trying to accept the new system the Sumner food bank moved to, and doing our best to make it work for our family schedules, to try to make ends meet.
