-10/10 wouldn’t recommend. As a volunteer there, I experienced multiple encounters where I was mistreated not to mention how the animals are treated. I was disrespected on multiple encounters and was talked to rudely whenever something was done incorrectly in his eyes, which is understandable for the frustration yes but disrespect was unacceptable especially when I’m trying to understand and adapt to a new environment. I don’t remember if the dogs were ever given a bath, because since I’ve been a volunteer there, I’ve never seen or been directed to wash them The cats rarely get to come out of their rooms and don’t get space and most of their rooms are filled with urine and feces The roof is collapsing. The place is a dump. There’s water piles on the roof and in the bathroom there is a hole like a mice or something can sneak in there just don’t go here point blank period. If you want to experience A new beginning with a pet please go somewhere else.

Loved working with them! We adopted 2 bonded cats from them, ages 2 and 5. They have their cats in rooms as opposed to individual cages. The cats were way more friendly, less stressed, and we got a better glimpse of the cats personality when adopting. A life long cat owner, these guys have the most rules about adopting but their cats had the least amount of surprises after adoption. This all took place pre pandemic, and I still recommend them to everyone!

I was pleasantly surprised at the character and caliber of the Stafford County SPCA facility's cats. All of their cats were friendly and loving, and they all had settled & good natured attitudes, as though you were visiting them in their living room and they were very glad to see you! If you are looking for a really good cat, the Stafford SPCA is definitely the best place to go!

I found my forever friend, Sparky, at the Stafford SPCA after months of looking online using Google searches that linked me to PetFinder and PetSmart Charities. Travelling from Bowie as far out to Centerville then down to Stafford, adding up to 150+ miles were worth visiting Stafford's SPCA. My communication started with an email because after finding dogs online that I liked, it turned out to be disappointing when they were either adopted or pending, despite the website stating their availability the day of. Tracy was a pleasure to work with and quite responsive in emailing and calling me to talk about her animals. I found her very professional and caring as if the animals were her own, to include the volunteers that were present. The SPCA was clean, organized and it was evident that the staff took great pride in their work. Tracy gave me a tour of the facility and extensive background on my future pet such as their room set-up, the history of the previous owner, their personality and complete medical history. I met him in the yard where the dogs could play, which provided an open area to see the pets in a familiar area and allowed me to observe him while she and I continued chatting. Tracy was observing my interaction as part of a vetting process upon receipt of my application, which was taken into consideration for adoption purposes. Before leaving, I provided an application and while I felt intimidated while my application was pending review, it turned out to be a win-win-win for me, Sparky, and the SPCA as another success story for others to read. She explained to me that the application would be reviewed and a decision would be made within several days due to prior applications and a busy schedule. On the second day, I received an email that my application checked out and the next step would be to schedule a home visit. Jill, an SPCA staff member joined our email and she and I coordinated our meeting to complete the process. She kept me informed from the schedule time to include any delays since it'd be a drive and unpredictable traffic in the DMV. I gave her the tour of my house and she carefully took everything into consideration so I felt a bit nervous, unknowing if she would see something that could prevent me from adopting. A folder was provided at the time of adoption with complete medical history and since Tracy emailed me a draft adoption contract, the process was just a matter of initially and signing before he became a member of my family. This was the most positive adoption experiences I've ever had and when compared to other adoption stories, this SPCA was amazing from start to finish. I would definitely recommend Stafford's SPCA to anyone looking to adopt since their site is up-to-date and the staff is knowledgeable when it comes to finding their pets forever families.

I called to get some details on rehoming my cat and maybe surrendering her to the Stafford SPCA. I left a message and a William Hoyt returned my call when he returned my call he was the rudest person ever to be working at an SPCA. I do not recommend this place to anyone. If you are rude to someone who is asking a question I would hate to see how they treat the animals that are brought in. William Hoyt should be fired after the way that he talked to me.

We need to give our bunny a new home, so I called this place, recommended to me by Petsmart. At first, I didn't like that they just had a machine to talk to and that they wanted me to get on their website to find answers and solutions, forms, etc.... I left a message saying I needed to talk to a real person and someone called me back within 15 minutes. He was extremely helpful! They don't take many bunnies there, but he was able to help me know where to look and what next steps would be good to take!

Every staff I have met from.here has been absolutely amazing and so helpful. I had just moved to Virginia from out of state and wasn't familiar with the area and where I can get help to get food for my cats during hard times. They helped point me in the right direction and had a warm welcome to boot. After the week my family and I had their kindness brought happy tears to my eyes. What a blessing they truly are.

From my little family to SPCA Stafford, we thank you immensely.
