If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I was in and out of the office in 15 minutes! Everything was very organized. The staff there were very NICE and helpful! Not joking! Best experience at the DMV I've ever had. I hope they keep this location / system they have post-pandemic.

UPDATE: I don't believe there are DMV functions in this office building anymore, but it's hard to tell (January 24, 2023).

ORIGINAL POST: Need a REAL ID? Hate waiting in lines? Low expectations for the DMV? Consider the new "pop-up" DMV in the Shirley A. Chisholm State Office Building at 55 Hanson Place. The office conducts license transactions only and reservations are required. However, the staff are surprisingly compassionate and everyone is focused on getting you and out as fast as possible. I went in to get my first New York DL and left feeling inspired to be a New York state resident. The staff were not sure how long the facility would be open, so get your appointment while you can!

Terrible experience at a meeting in the ninth floor atrium. Couldn't hear a thing. That's wrong. I could hear every third or fifth word sometimes. Perfect for one on one meetings but for anything else the acoustics there are terrible. Should be clearly labeled a lunch room. Lighting is best characterized as mood lighting. On the good side, there are bathrooms on the ground floor.
