The Worst Experience at a church ever!

I went there for a friend’s wedding. During the last part of the ceremony, the priest distributed the little white round bread. Barely anyone on my side went to the front to receive it. To be respectful, as I had done in other Catholic churches, I went up, took one, and said “Amen” to the priest.

As I was nearly back to my seat, the priest called me back and asked, “Are you a Catholic?” I said no. He then asked for the bread back with an angry look.

I was so embarrassed in front of everyone at the wedding. This experience really changed my impression of the Catholic Church and religion.

Although I am not Catholic, I respect nature and God. I believe the priest treated me that way because he saw my black hair and knew I am Asian. He did not stop my Caucasian husband or anyone else—only me. Of course, I was the only Asian there who had gone up to show respect and receive the bread.

I can’t believe this happened in Naperville, where so many Asians have settled. Even though some time has passed, I am still haunted by this bad experience. If this priest is supposed to represent God, shouldn’t he love me just as he loves a Catholic? Shouldn’t he love me as he loves other race?

I really love this catholic church, the stained glass windows, the pipe organ are so beautiful and the priests along with the prisoners are very welcoming.
It's nice to see place like this exist in Naperville.
From the moment you step into the church you feel welcomed and as if you were somewhere else like Rome Italy.
If you're in the area, go and check it out, say a little prayer or even attend mass.
They have a big parking lot across the street and plenty of additional free street parking.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville is a revered sanctuary, its facade a masterpiece of architectural elegance. Inside, vibrant stained glass windows cast a kaleidoscope of colors, illuminating scenes from sacred texts. The intricately carved altar, adorned with symbols of faith, radiates reverence.

This church isn't merely a building; it's a spiritual nucleus. Here, the community finds solace in worship, gathering for sacraments and ceremonies. Beyond its religious functions, the church fosters unity, hosting events, outreach programs, and educational activities. It's a place where faith, tradition, and community intertwine, welcoming all into its embrace. 🕊️⛪️

Very disappointed with St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, IL. After moving to the area and inquiring about become new parishioners, my fiancé and I were sent away to seek a church closer to home. After going to a mass, we really loved the historical architecture and the community within the church. It’s really unfortunate and disheartening to know they were so unwelcoming.

Meg is horrible and very arrogant. During my visit to saints Peter and Paul, I was taken aback by how unwelcoming the staff and congregation were. When I asked about the church’s services and programs, the responses I received were dismissive and uninterested, which left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Instead of being helpful, the response felt more condescending, which made me reconsider returning. I hope the church can improve its approach to newcomers, as it has the potential to be a more welcoming place for all.

Recently called this Parish to join and was told we were not allowed to join due to living in a town over from the Parish. The Parish secretary told me it was the policy of the Joliet dioceses that people go to church in the town they live in. I contacted the Dioceses of Joliet and was told that is not a policy. The Dioceses also told me they do not enforce any parish boundaries. Very disappointed
