My family and I are so grateful for this Ronald McDonald house. Our twin daughter was flight lifted here from another hospital shortly after birth as it was discovered she had some complex heart conditions which were going to need a specialized team of pediatric cardiologists. We have stayed here on several occasions for her surgeries and rough patches and have always been greeted with very kind staff and volunteers. The home is always kept very clean and radiates with comforting warmth and peace. It really lives up to being a home away from home during difficult and stressful times. Thank you!

What a wonderful place. My son was hospitalized for 2 weeks and we were an hour from home, The Ronald McDonald house was a life saver! They took an emotional load from my mind, allowing me to stay across from the hospital during this difficult emotional time allowed me to focus on my son. My Mom came 7 hours to be with us and it was a blessing she had a place to stay as well. Please consider donating to the Ronald McDonald House, peace of mind is priceless and they gave me a peace of mind when I felt so lost and alone.

Such an incredible place for people living through their worst nightmare. Day 68 of the battle in the NICU right across the street. My daughter’s twins arrived early… one has gone home, the other is still fighting. This has been a home away from home for mom and dad. Every detail has been covered to make life a little easier. Words will never be enough to thank RMH & staff They have been soo kind to us. Been so supportive during our hard times. Our baby was in Nicu and we lived an hour away,staying here gave us a sense of peace because we were close to our baby just 5 mins away .They even had vegan options for us. Will never forget ❤️

A wonderful place full of kindness and generosity. It was a great place to stay while my little one had surgery. My older child had fun in the playroom and enjoyed the snacks. It’s like a home away from home. The rooms are clean and the food is made with love.

This place is amazing, Ronald mcDonald house. It was my first time got this Room. It’s specially Thanks for who give that kind of help to people God bless them all team and working staff, They all are very helpful and so kind. The place behind the Christ Hospital very close. It’s very clean Room are also beautiful,24 hours They available to help people. My whole life I never seen like this non profit organization system. Thank you so much. My first impression of Ronald McDonald House was very positive, as I volunteered to cook and serve a dinner for families near Lurie Children hospital downtown Chicago.

When it came time for my own son with Down Syndrome to have open heart surgery, I was excited to hear that Advocate Children Hospital in Oak Lawn has a Ronald McDonald House available.

When my wife and I inquired about staying at the Ronald McDonald House, we were told we were not qualified due to the distance between our home and the Ronald McDonald House. The minimum distance to qualify for staying is 15miles.

Seeing that Google maps confirmed the distance to be 15miles, we inquired a 2nd time and were told the Ronald McDonald system registered us at 14.8 miles. We were told this meant we were not qualified to stay.

Being disqualified for the mileage requirement (even though the world-wide Google standard has specified otherwise) has left us feeling very frustrated with the Ronald McDonald House. This is not what we expected, especially while dealing with the stress of open heart surgery and days of in patient recovery for our son.

I hope the Ronald McDonald House reevaluates their mileage criteria to honor industry-wide standards such as Google maps. Also, consider having some sympathy and empathy when you are evaluating the situation and criteria. For all of the families who are going through a very stressful situation, we would appreciate it.
