They all drink the same kool-aid. From the helper at the counter up to an adjudicative judge, none will help. Health records aren't read or interpreted - *AT ALL** All reports and function tests are not good enough to recieve and interpret . my medical history is no longer considered important, real, or bad enough to receive cash to (barely) live. This holiday is not so great. No cash help for 10 months, with horrible health, makes these days low and without support. Shame on them...

Horrible dshs never has any of the funding that are supposed to have as listed on the status web page. No assistance in emergency grants no emergency eviction no help with a deposit. If anything the only thing that once was a good office left when Margaret the last honest helpful case worker. Sad

I mean, thank goodness they exist but can a single one of our government agencies function? It seems anyone seeking assistance is directed to an office and then when you arrive at the office they don’t feel they have the answers. I also noticed recently that there is very limited assistance to single people, particularly if you’re a student. I imagine this is due to them wanting you to obtain FASFA but there’s a variety of reasons that doesn’t work for someone and someone’s need to eat shouldn’t be restricted to the money their allotted for tuition and books. For young people who come from well off families but who may be alienated but not emancipated are thoroughly screwed. They do not qualify for financial aid. If you are a single person, without children, you are very limited in benefits you can receive. I receive just under $200 a month in cash benefits as I wait for SS/Disability to process my eligibility. My and I imagine most any ones expenses far exceed $200 a month but you are advised not to work while waiting for the disabilities adjudication process. I’m lucky to have the kindness and generosity of neighbors and my parents but I can’t imagine what those in a less than advantageous position are faced with. Crime? Non profits and other organizations rightly prioritize families with children but it’s leaving a huge demographic without help. I can’t support myself and am grateful not to be attempting to also support a child but what am I to do with mounting debt and no income? I will continue to lose money, gain interest fees and lower my credit score with no reprieve other than to hear word from disability as to my eligibility. This system is bonkers.

I've never been into the new office since they've moved. I never see a lot of cars there so I guess that's a good thing. But why is there a number listed on here that doesn't work. You cannot call the Port Townsend office directly you have to call the toll free number and wait forever. Just to ask a simple question. I wish there was a Port Townsend number. I don't want to go into the office I just want to ask an easy question I've called twice now and I've had to wait over an hour on the phone I don't have time for this. It's very frustrating.
