No puedo acceder a mi cuenta de Crédito ni mi cuenta de Savings, cambie de número de teléfono y vivo en San Diego dicen que no puedo cancelar mi cuenta, dicen que no tengo acceso a mi dinero y que debo ir a una sucursal que está en Salinas California para validar mi identidad a 7 horas de dónde vivo .. increíble!!

Worst credit union I have ever had. I can’t even log into my account because I don’t have my previous number anymore. I am a military member and I move around a lot sorry that my number changes from time to time. I call them and they’ll me to submit a document and they’ll fix my account for me, so I do it and they’ll tell me it isn’t enough information. Only reason I have this cu is because it’s one of two banks that you can finance with in Guam using a VA loan. Never again will I use this credit union.

I share my experience with others. This credit union is one to be absolutely avoided. It’s sooo hard to transfer funds. If you make a large deposit. It will take forever to clear. Not easy to work with. No debit card feature on their HELOC’s. Their system doesn’t accept PLAID. So you can’t do electronic bill pay as easy and track Financial’s with other software. I’m stuck with them because of the HELOC. High interest environment and poor economy has created a tough situation for us. Can’t wait to be rid of this company.

Recently refinanced an auto loan with PenFed. It was a mistake. It’s nearly impossible to make easy and convenient principal payments thanks to an incredibly outdated software system that takes 5 whole business days to clear a transfer from your outside bank — even if you’ve made such transfers many times. And then you have to call PenFed to make the principal payment every single time.

All together, it makes trying to pay your loan a massive hassle. It takes so long to clear funds that you end up paying tons in daily accrued interest anyway.

I shaved off a couple interest points but lost quick and easy ability to manage my loan. I really regret going this route. Terrible place to refinance. Extremely disappointed.

Almost building the courage to leave this credit union. Service and features are always letting me down. No sample checks (to charge for cashier check), app is always going down, can't link to plaid or other new techs. Im almost done

Penfed did no investigation on the property we were buying prior to sending us through escrow. Ultimately, they said they would not finance our home when we were within 10 days of closing escrow. Leaving us to scramble for a new loan company to fund our house we were in contract for. Regardless of having all the property information for about 30 days prior. They then proceeded to not return our calls or emails on a manner that was fitting to the fact they just dropped us in a very complex spot.

I've come from a big bank where they just see you as a number unless you are a private client. I have been banking with Penfed for a few months and i'm the type that likes to go into a branch and speak to someone in regards to my account than handling such business over the phone. Everytime I walk into the branch, I am treated with genuine excellent customer service and I never feel rushed. Any questions or situations I need assistance with that I do have, the representatives at this branch are quick and efficient in assisting me. I'm an older millennial and understand that online banking has a time and place but some things are better off in person and that includes building a banking relationship. The two representatives I have had pleasurable experiences at this branch were Alyssa and Desiree. I would give 5 stars but Penfed does need to improve their seemingly antiquated system to compete with the bigger banks and improve customer online banking user experience.

Good LUCK banking with these people. They took weeks to send a paper notice requesting additional information, after I had already been approved for their credit card. Fast forward 13 days from the date they supposedly mailed my card and I still have not received it. First class mail does not take this long to arrive.

Update:
After the paperwork was finally sorted, there have been no further issues with banking. The app and website have been fine and I never have to reach out to customer service.
