My sweet girl crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday but she was adopted here. I have never met such a special girl in my life, I feel so lost without my sweetheart. To think I paid 50$ for the best companionship I could ever ask for.
I adopted my guinea pigs here too, they lived a long life with me.
I went to look at a different kitty but my Lucy demanded our attention and we were best friends ever since. Her adoption fee was lower because she was FIV+, she had a respiratory infection when we brought her home that she did manage to shake with some aggressive treatment but she had lasting asthma and other issues that eventually took her. The FIV did affect her lifespan unfortunately, we gave her the best care we could find, but it can only do so much.
I wouldn’t have traded her for any other cat in the world though. She loved to be carried to bed like a baby and cuddled constantly. She was an *only cat* cat, which was fine by me, at the time.
I love Lucy has a whole new meaning. Thank you Humane Society for trusting me with such a sweet girl and giving her a chance to find her perfect home with us. She purred until her last breathe.

I am so happy Oregon saves all pets and especially happy we have the OHS in our lives. We stopped by today to drop off some donations and were happy to see so many of the pens empty. The staff is kind and helpful and doing wonderful work. Each person we asked took the time to tell us about their processes and tips and tricks for adopting just the right one.

My partner and I came in to meet some cats and we fell head over heels for one here. We had a meet and greet with him and two volunteers explained his background to us, gave us advice regarding his behavior and habits, and saw to it that we had a toolbox of knowledge and supplies with everything we would need after deciding to adopt him. We were able to purchase a kit of cat essentials at the shelter’s store which was reasonably priced and left us well-equipped with starter cat supplies. Because of the two women who helped us and the thorough guidance we received, my partner and I felt prepared to acclimate our cat to our home and having him with us has been a joy. It’s been less than one week with our cat and I already can’t imagine life without him. I am grateful to OHS for making the adoption process smooth and for providing shelter to countless animals. There is also a complimentary clinic visit afforded to new animal owners whose animal was adopted from the shelter. My boy is FIV+ and I’m so appreciative for the shelter’s resources as far as healthcare for him goes.
