We had so much fun at this fair! Highly recommend you check it out for yourself. We bought our tickets early and there was a discount but if you wait to buy when you arrive, there was no line at the ticket booth. The line was for everyone checking their online ticket but it moved pretty fast. Cash is king here but they had ATM's all over the place. Free shuttles if you park in town instead of at the fairgrounds.

Traffic was horrible, waited about an hour to get to the gate only to be told to go park 2 miles away and take a shuttle. When we got to the ticket area the line for prepaid ticket pickup was about 30 ppl deep but the buy there ticket line was empty. So I don't recommend buying in advance and I recommend going early or late but a couple hours after opening on a weekend. Once in we had a great time! Lots of good food, shopping, performances, axe throwing, archery and sword fighting!

I would not recommend this for children. There was great emphasis on the occult, and less on 'Renaissance' life. As it is in a natural area, navigating with a wheelchair would be difficult. The shows, while entertaining, were at least PG rated. The "washing well wenches" were very clever and hilarious. It is fun seeing all the costumes. Prices were a bit high for food; a turkey leg was $11, and we paid $10 for a brown bottle of root beer, which was flat. I guess we're just curmudgeons, because it is a popular festival, and so parking is a challenge; it is quite a walk from the parking lot to the gate. The line for check-in for online tickets was long, but we had no waiting at the cash gate.

Love the faire but it was way too crowded. Had to park a few miles away and be bussed over to the location. The lines for food and restrooms were extremely long. It was hard to look at vendors wares or find a seat at shows. They definitely need to expand to accommodate.
