I give this library one star because they have books. That's where the good ends. I did read other comments that mentioned the same concerns I have with the children's area. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. The children's play area has several really cool toys, but the children will be scolded (borderline on harassed) for playing "too loudly" with the toys or playing with them in the wrong place or accidentally putting them away in the wrong place. My children are well behaved, respectful and obedient children. We have been to maybe 12 to 15 libraries throughout the decades with my children. I have NEVER had a problem with my children in the library setting. They play with the toys using what was called a 12 inch voice in my day. Not a whisper but a normal speaking voice and they are immediately chided and told to be quiet. Considering we have some of the lowest literacy rates in the county I am shocked that the staff does not encourage children to come get books and play in the library. There are so many children in this county that can't afford to buy books and this library is not even an option for most now. I honestly don't even know if the staff likes children which is heart breaking to me. After speaking with several different mom friends they all say the same thing. I recommend looking for a different library if you have one closer or can at least afford the gas to drive a little further if you have children. I did go to the Hardin county library for a few months and strongly recommend that one. They love children and I never had a problem. They don't have as many neat toys but peace of mind just might be worth it.

Every time I have been in this library I am either the only one in it or there may be one or two other people. They have a newly renovated children's area that you bring your children to, but don't expect them to be able to play. You cannot bake the tea party cake in the kitchen oven because the tea party things have to stay at the tea party table perfectly set up. This was just one of the things we were told while trying to "play" in their children's area. I never condone my children running wild in a public area and they were doing nothing of the sort. Just using their imaginations. You can only use your imagination if it fits inside the rule box. That was my first experience.

My second experience I came to the library to do some school work with my children. The staff were SO loud that we could barely focus.

Third experience...I was told I could not have coffee in the upstairs area. The upstairs is the main part of the library, there is basically nothing downstairs except for the children's area. We weren't going to do that again. When asked where I could take it I was told there was a table around the corner from the front door I could sit at. It was drafty and cold there. Not a good experience.

So after three visits to this library, this has been 100% of my visits by the way, I can see why this library is empty. Who wants to come to a stuffy library when people can literally get everything they want right at home? I used to love bringing my children to the library before we moved here. It was such a wonderful, comfortable, fun and welcoming place to be.

I would give 1 star but they do manage to keep it tidy and clean, but then again, there's no one here to mess it up.

Very nicely organized and extra special staff. We've had a couple books ordered for us and we love using Overdrive to access the library as well. The kids section is loved by the whole family.

The librarians are always friendly, pleasant, and helpful. I've lived all over the country and have never been to a library that was more welcoming. I love my library and I have a bumper sticker that says so.

Very helpful with their guest service and very friendly. I love the fact that they have a lot of choices for large print books for people who are older with eye problems.
