I am so sorry to have to write this review but it is necessary to let all people know that not only has habitat been unhelpful but they have cost me thousands of dollars.
I was told by two employees that I had qualified for a new roof. I covered my leaking skylight with a tarp and waited all winter. I was finally contacted by the project supervisor advising me that I only qualified for the skylight. During the year, I repeatedly called and phone calls were not returned until I called the supervisor. As I patiently waited we had many storms and there was much damage done to the wood under the roof. Not only that, but the bids from other companies increased by a thousand dollars. I still owe over 600 for my part of the skylight.
I have written in great detail to the main Habitat for Humanity company with no response at all. Both employees that assured me that I qualified have been fired but that certainly doesn’t help me at all. If you are in need of help with home improvements, I recommend going elsewhere.

My daughter applied here for her 3 baby girl's time's are getting tough when she is a single parent for her girl's , so to I drove her here to make sure she wasn't leaving out nothing on her application one of the ladies was walking her through the process to make sure everything was complete, All of personnel were so friendly, Thank you Ladies keep up the good work

Update on this post .and changing my stars to zero,... my daughter had all paper work, everything to be qualified for her own house ,single mother with 3 kids ,workers at Amazon ,is an American citizen born in Phoenix Arizona, ,the down payment, and all that was said she didn't qualify ,but never actually got the reason why,...I want to not think it's was a raises thing ,but will see, I told her to not give up and try again, we'll see how it goes for next year , and demand an explanation of what was needed, and prepare for the next year ,I support my daughter and know she is well over qualified for her dream home and still meet her limits of what needs needs,

I went for a conflict resolution class and a financial planning class. These classes are open to the public, but are intended for Habitat for Humanity residents. I found the classes to be simple but useful. I think the whole organization is doing great work and they really know how to support people. I worked on a habitat house once and I will definitely support the organization in the future.

Some reviews here are for the Habitat ReStore, one review I noticed is for the Vancouver Habitat - a different organization.
PORTLAND Habitat builds and renovates simple homes for low income people. It sells those homes to the preselected person, or family, at 0 interest and monthly payments set up to be affordable for the purchaser. The funds received from the home purchasers is then put back into the organization to build more homes. Some land and materials are donated, some have to be purchased. Some labor is done by volunteers - including the future homeowners, some has to purchased - e.g.most electrical work and plumbing.
PORTLAND Habitat is a well run organization that is a win-win-win for the new home owners, the community and the many volunteers that make it all work.
I’ve known this group for many years and highly recommend supporting their good work.

I love shopping all 3 Habitat for Humanity ReStores in the Portland Metro area. So many great deals and super friendly staff. Lots of folks are "DOUBLE DIPPING" = drop off your donations / score sweet deals inside the store. Last Sunday at the ReStore at 10445 SE Cherry Blossom Dr. 97216, I found a really great contractor's tool belt for way less than it cost at Home Depot, Lowe's or Ace Hardware (I patronize these big retailers too). Highly recommend to all. *TEN STARS*

Great organization and wonderful store with items at incredibly low prices. I've volunteered at a few build sites and at the Restore and can't recommend them enough, wonderful cause.

Apparently these are real estate agents for HUD to build and flip houses!? They help you use sweat equity as down payment to purchase a house you help build, on donated land with donated materials, at market cost of the house! Giving the money to? I know many people who donated their houses to this program to give to the poor not to sell to them!

FUN FUN FUN...I SHOP here FOR FUN. I'm like a kid in a candy store. However I have many friends that shop here for Work, mostly contractors. We both walk away satisfied and always surprised at the different merchandise in stock. We even sometimes leave with things we didn't know we needed. Two thumbs up.
