I went there to repair my wife's phone, which battery bulged and the back glass partially came out. She really loved her phone and did not like the idea of getting a new one.

I bought a new battery from iFixit and went to get help replacing it over at FUTO. Daniel and Louis were extremely helpful and helped me avoid common mistakes when taking the phone apart. After about 30 minutes, the phone was fully repaired and closed!

Happy wife = Happy Life.

Dan was great and patient. He guided me with the repair of a damaged key fob and identified some other issues with the board that I had not noticed. I fixed a broken trace, replaced a battery, and reflowed some damaged pads/solder joints that Dan noticed.

I was unsure if I wanted to tackle the job myself or pay for a repair. I’m glad I did the open repair workshop as it was quite the rewarding experience.

Thanks Dan! Thanks FUTO! And thanks Louis? Yeah, thanks Louis!

Awesome people here. They have all the tools you need and it is free. They will help you and give you advice on what to do and how to do it. If you are interested in learning how to repair your own device, this is an amazing resource. Thanks to Louis, Dan and everyone else who helped me with tools, techniques and troubleshooting methods to successfully repair a device that would have otherwise been thrown away. I definitely learned something.

Great people here: I got to know FUTO and the right to repair over the weekend, and there would be the workshop today. I drove from Northwest after work, and it took some time to locate the place. It's a kind of late, and I would be happy by just saying hello to everyone and Louis.

Just in case, I brought my 12 year old laptop that is over-heating all the time, and Louis helped me to disassemble and reassemble the logic board, diagnose the temperature sensors and the logic board corrosion, and Dan helped me to re-apply the thermal paste.
Before the thermal paste replacement: CPU hit 98 degree Celsius
After the thermal paste replacement: CPU stays 78~82 degree Celsius at the steady state
When it's idling: below 70 degree Celsius

I will definitely visit again, get acquainted with the people, and learn how to repair. I appreciate all the help from the folks even they are so busy to unpack the moving boxes and to settle down in the place.

Thanks again, Louis and Dan!

Louis himself walked me through the basics of soldering, chip removal, and how to use the various tools for electronics repair. Fantastic program and I couldn't be happier! If I didn't live so far away I'd be here daily.

I'm thrilled to have FUTO's repair workshop in Austin. One thing I loved about Seattle, where we came from, are the tool libraries & free repair events where anyone can bring anything - from a broken zipper to a laptop charger. There's also Re-PC (a store where you can buy recycled computer parts & peripherals). As a techie & sustainability advocate, I definitely enjoy resources like these. So I'm really happy to have a repair workshop in Austin as it has the potential to create an ecosystem like the one in Seattle.

As luck would have it, our Microsoft Surface Book 2 stopped charging few weeks ago. There was a visible burn on the charging port so we thought it was definitely a laptop issue and might require a complicated fix. Last Friday, we went to FUTO & Louis himself greeted us at the door. Went straight to checking our laptop & determined that our charger is probably the culprit. Best news because this model got a repairability score of 1/10 from iFixIt. Needless to say, we were expecting to spend hours at the shop. Instead, we probably just spent 30 mins & was still able to try some of the cool gadgets there. Our new charger is on the way but I'm looking forward to coming back there to fix some of my other tech stuff.

Highly recommended. Had a dead 2020 MacBook Pro which they fixed it for me with professional tools. I wish I knew about that place before.
