Happy New Year to The Shelter House Staff who helped me get on my feet again. The case managers (Samone and Lauren) are very supportive and the staff are very professional as well as protective of the clients. I am very Thankful for the support of a no fail program such as this that I believe in. God bless this place.

I was put out for telling a man who was standing a foot and ahalf behind me not to approach me. As i was getting ready for bed. Staff came in And Made it about religion falsely im getting in bed and a man is standing a foot behind me and i told him not to. I stated a boundary that he kept over stepping.

Staff is very unprofessional and rude. I have been in this field for over 25 years and I've never experienced customer service like this in my whole career. They do not care about the real people who are in need they only care about the people they personally know and themselves. They use the services for themselves and close friends and family. I have followed all the rules for weeks at a time, getting up daily at 4 a.m. to get there early with a client who is in need and they have lied to us and we have been misled. This elderly woman has no where to go and is mentally interrupted and is in need of help for over a month now and still no help.

This place is ridiculous. The staff shows favoritism, they will allow a person whose mentally ill to taunt and holler at their own selves all throughout the night and expect you to deal with it. This place is not for people who are employed, they ask for your work schedule and are way too incompetent to scan and save so that they are able to refer back to it. Employees there are jealous hearted and would literally pick on the women who don't look like what they have been through. Last but not least naming names, Eugene one of the staff people there is using her job to dog people out Garantee you she scared in public. What goes around come around. You will get yours and I promise you it's not too far off.

The staff here are kind and reassuring. The shelter is beautiful and the smoke area is akin to the Garden of Eden. So lovely. I am so Thankful to be in a safe place to heal and gather strength to live again.

I have worked alongside women going into this Shelter since 2015, when it first opened. Unfortunately, this 1-star rating, which I would put a Zero rating if I could, is only for Lauren (Housing Specialist). How can a place where ALL women admitted are seeking housing, have a Housing Specialist who is unprofessional, demeaning, dishonest, and is now literally NOT respected from organizations whom she contacted, about a person who is helping one of the residents in the Shelter? Lauren was unequipped for helping this particular resident, she failed to seek housing for her in 2 months, only took her to seek housing one time, and she is not trained to seek housing for Adults with Disabilities. She should have sought help, versus stringing the resident along and ultimately to this day after 4 months has not secured housing for her. Lauren was literally out of order to try to have the resident change her Independent Provider to someone she knew, since the resident is linked to DODD. I am appalled at how this shelter whose primary goal is housing would have a Housing Specialist who is literally unskilled with assisting someone who was accepted into the Shelter on March 20th, did everything she needed "regarding paperwork", then Lauren drops the ball for almost 2 months of literally no forward movement on housing, to the point of the resident's frustration, that led to her deliberately breaking the rules, left the shelter for 3 days, which was as an act of feeling that this shelter cannot and will not help her! This shelter has helped several of my clients and mentees before 2019, but unfortunately this client's story in 2024 was unsuccessful and is a huge disappointment because Lauren (Housing Specialist), never secured housing and literally has no answers around why things were at a standstill for 7 weeks. I believe had she gave reasons, then the resident would not have lost hope in the Shelter finding her housing. Unless they get another Housing Specialist or hire someone trained to assist residents who has an Intellectual Disability, I would steer clear of going to this shelter. Even, if you do not have an intellectual disability, be sure to advocate for yourself and not fall for any assumptions made around your situation either as Lauren did with this resident. I surely hope that this won't happen to anyone else, their family member, support team or staff, due to Lauren's blatant, distasteful, tacky and condescending behavior regarding her negative and incorrect stereotype around a residents situation. Lauren, stick to the facts and not your preconceived biases and opinions. The rest of the staff was cool, professional and supportive, but unfortunately this Zero-Star rating goes directly under Housing!! Thank you!

Imagine being homeless, going to shelter, having to take cold showers and watching the staff pick on the elderly about playing solitaire, needing rides to get medicine and not being able to walk fast enough out of the lunchroom. Imagine watching the staff tell people with mobility issues after antagonizing them repeatedly to take a walk. Imagine being called nasty and dirty by staff while trying to eat breakfast.

Don’t become homeless, this place will make you hopeless.
