Some of the staff need to get off their high horses and stop looking for trouble with people. Staff are there to help residents with obtaining a home, services within the community to better their lives, employment, etc. Not accuse and corner the most vulnerable. Most of these residents have mental health issues. The staff may not be employed as mental or behavioral health staff but certainly they must've been trained on how to work with people that have these issues...right?! APPARENTLY NOT! Oh and if you have a physical disability...expect to see and experience full on discrimination. ZERO empathy from staff!! Don't bother filing any kind of complaint either...that'll get ignored and you'll be made to feel like a criminal and liar.

Stuck in maine. Needed help. Provided no info after found out I'm a Colorado resident then hung up on me. Homeless is homeless. Doesn't matter where your from or if you have been displaced for 4 years now. Just no. No info on state residence, no info on food pantries in the area, no info on community services, just no call someone else goodbye then hung up on me. Screw these people. So far this state is filled with people who hate homeless and would rather you die.

I was very grateful for a bed, shower, the food pantry and a few of the caring staff ( most of whom have since quit working there.) However the director and some staff are disrespectful and abusive to the homeless and 2/3 of the homeless leave before getting permanent housing because they can not handle the abuse. Constant threats of being kicked out if they can find any unfounded excuse to do so. The emotionally disturbed director badly needs counseling for her personal issues that lead to her hostile and cruel behavior towards the homeless and her staff. I am truly sorry for anyone who needs help from this shelter. “Helping those who need it most.” is a joke. Staff help themselves to the food pantry and donations before allowing the homeless access. I have no doubt this may be a “better” shelter but it is tragic that the homeless are treated so cruelly especially as many already have ptsd and emotional issues. May they improve their staffing. 🙏🏼

If you enjoy being treated like a child or an idiot then this is the place for you, top staff will belittle and demean you every chance they get, the director is on a major power trip and enjoys playing favorites but is threatened by anyone who shows the tiniest bit of intelligence

My wife and kids were in a very hard spot while I was trying to secure A Place For Us in Florida. In the meantime my wife and my children had nowhere to go so they ended up going to the Emmaus homeless shelter. They are so great that I can't even put into words how much they gave their 100% to get the ball rolling to get my wife and kids into housing and they will never hungry and they had supplied them with clothes! I just can't thank you guys enough! Keep up the good work for the less fortunate

This is a Shelter for Individuals and Families. It is not your ordinary Shelter
It was founded by a Nun many years ago.
The screening process is strict as ALL residents and children are very important. It provides structure and support which is sometimes lacking for many people who are in need of its assitance The residents follow a precise " Chore List " that is posted every day. There is a Curfew. The residents take turns cooking the Evening Meal and eating together is a requirement. Some find it's management to be overly stringent . I spent 3 months as a resident. This was a valuable learning experience and I am TRULY grateful.

I praise the employees as it can be extremely difficult to manage all that a Shelter requires.

Emmaus took me in within hours of receiving my application...the facilities are very clean...I still visit to pick up produce. Meeting again with the staff is like seeing old friends...best shelter I've ever stayed in...
