I want to take the time out to say thank you to Ms. Harris. She helped are family out she was so nice and sweet she explained everything to the T she answered all my questions concerns quick the whole Catholic charities itself all the staff are nice welcoming well spoken all around nice people. They don't judge you or look at you less than. We truly appreciate you all the programs you all have the help you forgive the referral you direct us to the right direction.
Thank you all so much we are settled in are new home thank you to Catholic charities day break

I would give it five stars because they do a lot of good for people 🙏...
( especially homeless people) Such as giving them new (semi-used) clothing,
Help with rides to jobs and appointments (sometimes),
End of even heard that they help the residents there that have been there for more than 30 days eventually help get them assistance with long-term residence...
HOWEVER....

by NOT KEEPING TRACK of what / who goes in/out --- THERE'S A LOT OF DRUG USE;
Such as clients /andOr/ visitors smoking crack 🪨 in the bathroom and constant drug dealing within meters of the building, and rampantly throughout the nearby blocks. 😵‍💫

Great place to volunteer and give back. Pastor(Capt.) Scott is an awesome man of GOD. Truly here for the ppl. Right now we're in need of Bell Ringers. Come on out and help bring joy to those less fortunate.

Over 10 years ago, I volunteered here and served meals to the homeless. Now I am homeless and people serve meals to me and my special needs small child, and I appreciate it. I do. So far I had to give my case worker all of my information including my rental agreement.

Why do I have to give them my rental agreement? When my case worker said that they wouldn't help me with my move-in deposit and I wasn't asking for the whole amount. I was asking for $300, I have the rest of the amount. I'm going to ask around about that because I'm confused as to why you need something that you aren't helping me with.

I've been staying in my car because it's safer for me and my child in my car and I only come to the shelter to eat and then I leave. Some people don't have compassion for special needs children and I'm not trying to make anyone understand my situation. I'm just trying to be in a safe environment for me and my child.

I stayed in the homeless shelter cafeteria with my special needs child for 3 days and my child irritated the drug addicts and drunks because he was waking up throughout the night for 2 nights straight. So after getting cursed out a couple of times. I thought we would be safer in my car and to be honest.

I'm not getting the help I truly need, so it was a bad idea for me to come here in the first place. If you have a car and a special needs child, you're better off living in your car. You give them too much of your information to not get any real help and to be around people who can pop off at any moment because they have mental issues as well.

Well, I really never had nothing bad to say about daybreak, but I just called because I’m homeless right now and they said well we don’t we’re not accepting people till August 1. What the hell what does that mean? Don’t come back till August 1 just live on the streets That makes no sense then why are you a shelter? I’ll just make the police take me over there how about that one you cant deny a disabled person a place to stay, but as always, it’s because the people that work there have no compassion they could care less about anybody’s life. They look at the homeless people and say well you’re probably homeless for a reason. Well, yeah because we have no home and you probably don’t either.

Terrible terrible customer service! It’s very unfortunate that this is a place for the community and you get treated sooooo rudely. What a slap in the face when life is already slapping you in the face. The women on the phone would even tell me all the resources they provide. I hate that ppl can be so nasty and unhelpful. Employee ppl that have the heart to serve ppl.

I am appalled. I have been staying here for a while now and unfortunately I have no other option but to stay. My kids are targets of constant racism. The people who live here are mean and constantly touch my kids food that I get from the state. My eldest son has stated that one of the staff members constantly calls him the N word and touches him weirdly. I am disgusted. I am grateful to have a place to stay but I am very unhappy with staff and the people living here. Everybody calls me names because my kids are black and I am not. The people staying here make false accusations to DCFS. People aren’t being helped. One girl stole my baking sheets and pots and pans and hoards everybody’s things in her room. The staff won’t do anything about theft here.

I was part of a team from The Knights of Columbus that served dinner to residents and walk ins. Great experience. Everyone thanked us multiple times. Easy way to give back. Volunteer, you won't be sorry.
