I just finished training for my first marathon and I cannot say enough about how great the whole experience with CARA was. The enthusiasm, support, and endless and sincere encouragement made the grueling process of running 300+ miles over 18 weeks so enjoyable.
You’re not just a part of a running group, you really do become a part of a community. Special shout out to the 11:30 leaders at Montrose, y’all cultivated a great group environment and I probably would’ve dropped out ages ago if I didn’t know y’all would be waiting for me every Saturday morning.
If you’re planning on running a race and not sure if the CARA training program is worth it- it is, 1000%

RUDE RECEPTIONIST! Britney is the fake name she wanted to give me after blocking my cell phone number resulting in me having to call off of my landline. Charged me a renewal without my permission and HUNG THE PHONE UP ON ME! Get better employees… DO NOT BRING YOUR BUSINESS HERE

I've been a member of CARA on and off for several years. They offer some decent discounts on races and to various running stores and other businesses. You get a subscription to Runner's World with your membership. They also have lots of training programs, including speedwork, core work, and their popular marathon training program. I've never participated in any of the training programs primarily because 90% of their city programs take place on the city's north side. How about hosting some programs downtown, in the West Loop, or on the South Side?!?!? However, I have run the CARA Lakefront 10-Miler in the spring, as well as the CARA Ready to Run 20-Miler in the fall. Both events were very well organized. Overall, I think CARA is a great organization and resource for local area runners. I really do wish that they would host more programs in places other than the city's north side, though.

Awesome organization, not super familiar with you all, but just want to say that I’m very grateful for all the runs you put on and the water stops along the lake, it does not go unnoticed. Myself and many others appreciate all your hard work, early mornings, and volunteer efforts. Thank you!!
