If you are in need of needing assistance of opening an account at BFCU I HIGHLY RECOMMEND asking for Amanda Bourque. She asked the right questions so that I was able to set up a total of 6 different accounts. I had ZERO issues and it was done in record time. Me errors. She is the BEST of THE BEST. I visited this location because it’s the closest to my home to deposit a check. As the teller was processing my deposit, another teller standing behind her grabbed the check, looked at it, and then took it to her supervisor. She returned and asked me what kind of check it was, mentioning she had never seen one like it before. I’ve deposited multiple checks at this location in the past and have never encountered an issue like this. It’s understandable that she may not have seen this particular check before—it was my first time seeing it as well. Millions of unique checks are processed every day. However, the interaction made me feel uncomfortable, as if I were being suspected of attempting to cash a fraudulent check. I can’t help but feel my appearance as a Black man wearing a durag may have contributed to this treatment. Regardless, I no longer feel comfortable returning to this location.
