I found Ameliorate on Yelp and was extremely happy with their service. Amelia is a joy to work with and truly performed wonders to help me declutter and organize my garage/workshop. She has many creative problem-solving ideas for organization I never would have thought of and now my workshop is much more efficient and functional. Amelia is also an expert on human behavior and is a very sympathetic, understanding person when it comes to helping one deal with their years of accumulated stuff and deciding what you can get rid of. She has been so helpful in helping me get my life back on track that I can’t recommend her enough.

I fully believe that all the 5 star reviews are warranted because initially it was mostly a 5 star experience. But, I caught Amelia at a point in her life where she was not equipped to take on my project. She often made mini rants about needing a new team and a new way to organize her work. I have empathy for that as a self-employed person too, but only to an extent. I was very open and vulnerable with Amelia about my life state. I’d just lost my mom and was approaching a big birthday & I explained to her how much it would mean to have this done before retuning from a birthday trip. For context, we worked together over several months, so it wasn’t as if I sprung this deadline on her. Everything was going smoothly for the most part, aside from her being late most days. I went on my 3 week long birthday trip, before I left we had discussed her visiting the apartment several times to mostly finish the job, and leave me with some homework on items I would have to sort myself. My housesitter eventually communicated to me that she hadn’t reached out to schedule anything yet even though there were only 4 or 5 days left on the trip. See screenshots. Long story short, she ended up lying, blaming him for not having an open schedule, which is essentially irrelevant because I was FULLY clear that she was allowed to work on the apartment without him there, and my concierge was even OK with letting her in if he wasn’t there to do it, as she’d already done that several times. She only recached out to him after I confronted her about progress, with just four days left on my trip. Again, screenshots attached. So, I ended up having to take time out of my trip to leave her very thorough but understanding voice messages. I expressed my disappointment especially since this was already vulnerable for me having to going through m many of my mom‘s objects. I am writing this six months later and to this day, she has never responded to me. She simply sent me the invoice which is frankly just a brutal way to end an emotional process. I have sent her multiple text messages, called her plenty of times so essentially she left the project without ever doing a walk-through, without an explanation, an apology, no receipts to make returns of certain items that she bought without my approval that simply don’t work for me.

As if I’m not already dealing with mourning, I have to deal with these inconvenient items every day, and think about this frankly traumatic experience.

Post-trip I am happy to honestly say that most of the work she did was impressive, I’ve never argued that. However if you’re someone who has emotions tied up in the organizational process, I would not recommend working with her because even with her undeniable skills, this has caused more damage than I could ever expect working with an organizer. More than anything I’m disappointed in her dishonesty and unprofessionalism, and I would urge anyone who’s protective of their personal space and energy to find someone else.

Amelia is fun, motivating, and fast. With Amelia, I accomplished more in four hours than I would have in 4 months on my own. With Amelia’s help I was finally able to get rid of my storage unit, and it really was painless. Amelia completely transformed my house and changed how I think of my place. She set me up for good habits and basically helped me furnish my whole apartment. She acquired eclectic items within my budget, from numerous sources, and added practical little touches throughout the house. She made the bathroom serene, energizing, and color coordinated. There’s a place for everything, so it never gets cluttered or messy, which is life-changing. I would wholeheartedly recommend Amelia to anyone who is looking to revamp or reorganize their home. Whether you are moving in, or looking to improve your set up, Amelia will definitely be able to help you transform your place.

Amelia has helped me move twice and honestly I don't know how I would have done it without her.

The first time, I'd just moved and my new place was just full of boxes. From the moment she came, she took so much of the anxiety off my shoulders and essentially created a home.

The next time i was moving, i called her before I did anything. She was with me every step of the way. Amelia first asked me my goals for how I wanted to feel in my new space. She helped me get rid of things that I no longer needed and was emotionally supportive throughout. She helped me pack (she did mostly everything), she was with me when the movers came, and was first at my new place, unpacking and organizing everything.

Amelia creates a safe space to discuss your goals and figure out what will be helpful for your life. Then she turns that into a home. She's so much more than an organizer. She doesn't judge and she keeps you focused and on task. She helps you realize your potential. It's also an extra plus that she happens to have extraordinary taste.

Amelia's services are worth EVERY cent. I could write about how she's improved my life all day. I don't think I'll ever move without hiring her.

This may sound crazy, but I have really been struggling with both the concept and the action of organization. I was raised in a household in which organization was this holy grail that could never be attained. It felt completely overwhelming. When it would come to cleaning my apartment, it would take me hours, and I always felt like I was just shoving things into drawers and closets for the appearance of organized! And it would be messy again in a day.

I wish I would have worked with Amelia years ago. Not only do I now live in a little sanctuary, but she taught me how to keep my place organized. I am so impressed with her empathy, patience, and kindness throughout the process. She never pressured me to part with anything that I was not comfortable with. I love the fact that she took her time in the beginning to understand my needs, my goals, and how she could transform the space to create the life that I envisioned for myself. I’m posting this on behalf of my wife and I. Amelia is awesome!

I don't know who sings Amelia's praises more, me or my husband. Working with her has been life-changing! Apartment living can be tricky because you are limited by space and what you can do with it. Before Amelia came, we had a large pile of "stuff" in our bedroom and my closets and dressers were overflowing so much that I had started to take over my husband’s closet in the guest bedroom. Plus, our storage unit was what nightmares are made of. Nothing in our place had a "home", and as a result we didn't feel at home.

My husband is very clean and orderly and I'm....well...I'm not. When I brought up working with an organizer, he was very skeptical but after our first session, he was a true believer. Amelia listened to our concerns and came up with solutions that worked with our lifestyle.

Not only is there no longer a pile of "stuff" in our bedroom, but my husband has his own closet back and you can actually walk into our storage unit. Even in the weeks since she has been here, items are exactly where it would make sense for them to be. Her system has made it very easy to maintain an organized home that we enjoy being in.

Amelia was compassionate, understanding, and we always felt like we were a part of the process. She was a blast to work with and we are so grateful we met her. We would and do recommend Amelia to everyone!
